Building work is well under way to convert the world famous Big Room into a dual purpose film and music space. A joint venture between Real World Post and Real World Studios is turning this legendary space into the UK's premier film mixing and sound-post facility.
Real World Post is co-founded by BAFTA winner and renowned sound re-recording mixer, Mike Prestwood-Smith who's list of credits include Casino Royale and Harry Potter. Mike is up and running in a custom built pre-mix room and has just finished pre-mixing dialogue for the forthcoming Golden Compass.
As a film mix studio, the Big Room will feature an AMS-Neve DFC Gemini console along with Digidesign Icon D-Controls providing the ultimate hybrid film post system. In music mode the SSL 9000K series slides back into place, but now with the added benefit of enhanced monitoring.
The film facility will enjoy a full range of excellent on-site services, including cutting rooms, a DI/Visual FX review suite, catering and accommodation, great transport links and helicopter landing facilities all within spitting distance of the world heritage city of Bath.
Bespoke engineering and possibly the worlds first in-studio railway track, allows the room to slide from one configuration to the other without compromising The Big Room's qualities.
